Transferring a domain in

Unlock the domain
At your current registrar, disable Transfer Lock (sometimes called "Registrar Lock").

Get the auth code
Request the EPP / Auth-Info code from your current registrar — usually emailed to you.

Start the transfer
Use the Transfer in tab above, paste the auth code, and pay one year's renewal — which is then added to your expiry.

Approve & done
Confirm the transfer email when it arrives. Most TLDs complete in 5–7 days; DNS records are preserved throughout.

How long does domain registration take?

Most registrations are instant — your domain is active and DNS propagating within minutes of payment. A handful of newer TLDs may take up to a few hours. You'll get a confirmation email the moment registration completes.

How do I transfer a domain to TheHostCare?

At your current registrar: (1) make sure the domain is older than 60 days, (2) disable the Transfer Lock (sometimes called "Registrar Lock"), and (3) request the EPP / Auth-Info code. Then come back here, switch to Transfer in above, paste your domain and the auth code, and pay one year's renewal. We'll guide you through the rest by email.

Will I lose any time on my domain when I transfer?

No — the opposite. A successful transfer adds one year to your existing expiry date. Your DNS records are preserved during the transfer, so websites and email keep running without interruption.

How long does a transfer take?

Most TLDs complete within 5–7 days. The clock starts once you approve the verification email from your losing registrar (or after their 5-day auto-approval window). Some ccTLDs (.eu, .co.uk and similar) are faster — often within hours.

What if my domain is locked or I can't get the auth code?

Every registrar must let you unlock and retrieve the auth code free of charge. It's usually on the domain management page or available on request. If your current provider stalls, ICANN's Transfer Dispute process applies — and our support team is happy to help you push it through.

Does registering a domain include web hosting?

No — domains and hosting are separate. You can point your domain to any hosting provider by updating DNS records. If you also need hosting, our Web Hosting, Managed Hosting, and Cloud VPS plans plug in seamlessly so you can manage everything from one Control Center.

What happens when my domain expires?

We send multiple renewal reminders by email before expiry. After expiry most domains enter a 30-day grace period during which renewal still happens at the standard price. After that, the domain enters a redemption period where recovery fees apply, and finally drops back into the available pool. Enabling auto-renewal avoids all of this.

Do prices include VAT?

No — every price on this page excludes VAT. VAT is calculated at checkout based on your billing country and tax status. Business customers with a valid EU VAT ID can purchase at the net price.
